Rubina Ali’s Trust Hires Social Worker To Ensure Her Well-Being
A trust set up by Slumdog Millionaire producer Christian Colson and director Danny Boyle has stepped in to protect the best interests of 9-year-old child actress Rubina Ali, after reports surfaced that her father had attempted to sell her to an undercover reporter for £200,000.
The trust, originally established to financially protect Rubina and her siblings, has now hired a social worker to personally check in on the girl, who is currently still living in the slums of Mumbai.
Christian recently released a statement saying,
Both Danny and I remain committed to working with the trust and the family to secure Rubina’s long-term best interests.
One of the trustees, Noshir H. Dadrawala added,
The trust will support Rubina, her parents and responsible authorities to ensure that the rights and best interests of Rubina. The trust is in regular contact with Rubina Ali and her family and has hired a social worker to assist in looking after her welfare and that of her co-star.
The trust was primarily designed to provide Rubina with a decent living situation, good education, and a monetary payment on her 18th birthday.
