Paula Abdul Officially Drops American Idol
It looks like Paula Abdul is definitely out for the next season of American Idol.
We reported last month that Paula’s manager was exploring options for his client who had yet to receive a new contract for the upcoming season of AI, sparking speculation that the producers weren’t planning to have her back.
Paula had apparently attempted to negotiate a higher salary after hearing of her fellow judge Ryan Seacrest’s $15 million-per-season 3-year deal. Idol execs decided not to give in to Paula’s demands, however, so according to her, she decided to drop out. She wrote on her Twitter last night,
With sadness in my heart, I’ve decided not to return to #IDOL. I’ll miss nurturing all the new talent… but most of all being a part of a show that I helped from day1become an international phenomenon.
What I want to say most, is how much I appreciate the undying support and enormous love that you have showered upon me. It truly has been breathtaking, especially over the past month. I do without any doubt have the BEST fans in the entire world and I love you all.
Other woman judge Kara DioGuardi, who probably settled for whatever breadcrumbs Idol threw at her, will be back for the upcoming season.
