American Idol’s parent company CKX has just announced that Simon Cowell is close to signing a new 3-year deal to judge the hit Fox show, and rumor has it that he’ll make almost $45 million during that time.

The new figure is $9 million more than he currently makes.

Last week, Paula Abdul dropped out of the show after turning down a rumored $8 million offer.
