Lady Gaga’s ex-boyfriend (who also happens to be her former producer and business partner) has filed a $30.5 million lawsuit against her leaving him out in the cold after he essentially made her famous.
Rob Fusari claimed in the suit that when he and Stefani first began working together, she and her father signed a contract giving him a 20% cut of her earnings.
According to him, he was the one responsible for transforming Stefani Germanotta into Lady Gaga by convincing her to abandon her indie rock roots for more catchy dance beats. He also insisted in court documents that he was responsible for the name Lady Gaga, which came up after the spell check on his phone changed the words “Radio Ga Ga” into “Lady Ga Ga” on a text that he had sent to her.
The pair began dating soon after they began working together, but according to Rob, Stefani turned abusive when a deal with Island Def Jam fell through, prompting him to end the relationship. He claimed that Stefani stopped returning his phone calls when she signed a contract with Interscope in May 2007.
Rob is the co-writer and producer for four songs on The Fame, including the hit Paparazzi.
