If you’re a baby, you might want to watch your back. Billy Bob Thornton’s estranged daughter Amanda Brunfield was released on $279,000 bail on Friday. Amanda is facing murder charges for the death of a 1-year-old girl who she was babysitting back in October.
The baby supposedly died after sustaining a head injury, which Amanda claims occurred after the girl fell from her playpen. Investigators, who found discrepancies in Amanda’s story, have charged her with homicide.
Billy Bob Thornton’s daughter Amanda Brumfield has just been charged with first degree murder, aggravated manslaughter, and aggravated child abuse in the death of a 1-year-old baby girl that she was babysitting late last year.
Amanda called 911 last October after she claimed that a baby she was caring for fell from her playpen and hit her head. Police became suspicious after realizing that Amanda had waited several hours after the fall to call for an ambulance.
She claimed at the time that the baby was acting fine immediately after the fall, so she put the girl down for a nap and fell asleep herself. She told detectives that she didn’t realize the girl was seriously injured until she woke from her nap and found the baby unresponsive.
Investigators later reported finding that the girl’s injuries weren’t consistent with Amanda’s story.
Billy Bob released a statement a few months ago, distancing himself from Amanda. His publicist said that the father and daughter hadn’t made contact in “quite some time”.

Amanda told police that the baby’s tongue was bleeding after the fall, but that she was “happy” and “playful”, so she did not summon immediate medical care. She claims that she then fed the baby bananas and fruit snacks, and put her down on the couch, where they both fell asleep. When she awoke, Amanda allegedly found the baby unresponsive.
Amanda, who is Billy Bob’s oldest daughter with his first wife, Melissa Gatlin, has reportedly not had contact with her father in years.
The fallout from Billy Bob Thornton’s slightly egotistical interview on Canadian radio was apparently too much for his band, The Boxmasters to handle.
Though BBT has denied regretting his statements, Willie Nelson’s official website is suddenly reporting that The Man and his band have decided to tuck their tails in and call it a day. The posting on Willie’s site says,
It has been reported that Billy Bob Thornton & The Boxmasters will not be continuing the Canadian tour with Willie and Ray. At this time, no reasons have been announced but the remainder of the tour will continue as scheduled without The Boxmasters.
We’re guessing the sane members of the Boxmasters probably teamed up to tear BBT a new one. The injury from that would probably take a good few months to heal.

Update: Billy Bob’s publicist is now citing code word: “the flu” for the band’s abrupt Canadian cancellation. American audiences won’t be lucky enough to avoid the Thornton wrath though. His publicist has announced that the band will be reuniting with Willie Nelson for a show on Tuesday in Stamford, Connecticut. Tickets are available here. After his divalicious flip-out on Canadian radio the other day, we’re hearing that Billy Bob Thornton and his totally awesome band, the Boxmasters, hit the stage for a Toronto show. Looks like the audience there wasn’t a big fan of the actor’s attempt at making music. Concert-goers reportedly booed Billy Bob and his band during his attempted performance.
The fact that Billy Bob referred to Canadian audiences as “mashed potatoes without the gravy” during his informative interview probably didn’t help his case.
Update: We’re now hearing that Billy Bob stopped his show three songs in to unsuccessfully explain himself to the audience. He said something to the effect of:
Boo all you want, but I want to say something…. We’re really happy to be here, but I need to say something. I talked to this a–hole yesterday.
I sat down and talked with this guy. He and his producers say, ‘We promise you we won’t say that’ [Thornton's acting career]. The very first thing they said was that.
I don’t really like sensationalism…If you look someone in the eyes and promise them something, and you don’t do it, you don’t get the interview. That’s the way it goes.
In case you missed it, Billy Bob Thornton put on his very large actor-ego-hat yesterday morning, before walking into an interview to talk about his music with his new crappy band, The Boxmasters.
Interviewer Jian Ghomeshi made the mistake of mentioning Billy Bob Thornton’s acting career at the beginning of the show, which apparently pissed the actor off to the point of pulling a Joaquin Phoenix that was so good, that even Joaquin Phoenix could learn a thing or two from the act.

Everyone thinks Madonna is getting it on with A-rod, and planning a trip to Malawi with him (to probably find another baby), but I call false on those rumors. My source (it meows, does it count?) says that The Material Girl is actually getting it on with Tea Leoni. That whole Billy Bob Thornton thing? Totally a cover up. Oh yeah, and John Tesh is dead.
Update: I called it. Billy Bob is now denying having an affair with Tea. Looks like Tea’s cover up fell through.
