A judge denied Cameron Douglas’ request for bail in a Manhattan court yesterday.
Cameron, who is currently in prison on a number of drug charges, reportedly wanted to get out of jail to check himself into a rehab center. The judge decided that Cameron was more likely to stay off drugs in jail, so he denied the request.
Cameron is scheduled to appear in court for his next hearing on April 14.
Michael Douglas’ son Cameron pleaded guilty to two felony drug charges in Manhattan federal court today.
Cameron was arrested last year after the DEA caught him in possession of meth, cocaine and heroin. The charges, for possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance, and possession of heroin, carry a total minimum sentence of 10 years in prison.
Michael Douglas sent his rep out to release a statement concerning his son Cameron’s recent arrest for allegedly running a major drug trafficking operation. Michael’s rep’s statement read:
The family is devastated and very disappointed in Cameron’s recent behavior. Any family who has dealt with substance abuse knows how devastating it can be.
Cameron is currently being held at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in NYC. He’s due in court to face charges on September 10.
Cameron Douglas was supposed to be under house arrest at his mom’s home until his trial, but his girlfriend Kelly Sott screwed everything up when she arrived on the doorstep with a toothbrush full of heroin. That little incident prompted cops to send Cameron to the Metropolitan Correction Center for violating the terms of his home detention.
Cameron was transferred to the facility earlier today. His hearing is set for September 10 and he faces 10 years to life in prison if convicted.
Earlier this week, Cameron Douglas’ girlfriend Kelly Sott was arrested for attempting to sneak heroin to him in an electric toothbrush. Now, we’re learning more about the incident, and it looks like Kelly may have been stupider than previously thought.
First of all, contrary to original reports, Kelly was caught bringing drugs to Cameron’s mom’s house where Cameron was under house arrest, not to a courthouse.
Legal papers say that Cameron was overheard by court-appointed security, asking a friend to bring over a few personal items, emphasizing the need for his electric toothbrush. Cops became suspicious because Cameron had also received another toothbrush days earlier, and no one needs two toothbrushes.
After the phone call, Kelly showed up at the home with a bag of things, including Cam’s beloved toothbrush, which cops promptly confiscated. Inside, they found 19 bags of a brown substance which they pretty much assumed to be heroin.
When questioned, Kelly denied knowing anything about the heroin. Cops then followed her back to the hotel room that she shared with Cameron. Inside, they found heroin, crystal meth, and pot.
Today, Kelly popped up in court to face drug smuggling charges. A judge ordered her to be held without bail. She’s currently being treated for heroin abuse and hypertension after suffering a break-down following her arrest.
Good news, Cameron Douglas’ bright girlfriend Kelly Sott has decided to keep her meth dealer boyfriend company in prison. She was caught by cops trying to sneak some dime bags of heroin to Cameron in a courthouse after his hearing on federal drug charges yesterday.
Cameron (son of Michael Douglas), was arrested last month after cops caught him allegedly trying to sell a half a pound of meth to an undercover cop.
We mentioned earlier this week that Michael Douglas’ son Cameron was arrested after cops found him in possession of about a half a pound of meth. Now, Cameron’s federal indictment filed in NY is giving us a better idea of the extent of his operation.
Apparently, DEA agents had been watching Cameron for about 3 years. They say that during that time, he sold “multiple pounds” of crystal meth for tens of thousands of dollars to a number of people - at least three of whom are now cooperating with authorities in exchange for possible reduced sentences.
Cameron was arrested after a sting operation was set up by the DEA, where agents caught him accepting $15,000 for a half pound of meth. According to TMZ, the buyer contacted Cameron after the transaction with the following message: “The bath salts are fabulous! Thank you so much.”, to which Cameron responded, “Yeah, I thought you would like them my friend … I was so excited for you to take a bath and see for yourself.”

This is Cameron’s second drug bust. He was first arrested in 2007 when cops found a syringe filled with liquid cocaine in his car. His mugshot above is from that felony charge.
As of last check, Cameron was still in federal custody.
Update: Cameron reportedly had a half a pound of meth on his person at the time of his arrest. The total street value of his little stash came to about $18,000.
An $80 million trust fund will apparently buy a mountain of drugs, but may not be quite enough to make the rent. Michael Douglas’ son Cameron was evicted from his $4,200 per month home recently for failing to make two months of rent.
Cameron reportedly fled the property with his roommate when a cop arrived at the scene with an eviction notice. Cam, being the nice guy that he is, decided not to totally abandon the house altogether, and left his girlfriend at the home to deal with the officer and clean up the mess.
The landlord of the Laurel Canyon home tells Star Magazine that inside the property, they discovered burnt spoons, used syringes, mirrors covered in cocaine, and a few home drug-testing kits for good measure.
Cam, who has been arrested for cocaine possession several times, has been in and out of rehab for the last few years.
