Ohio Police Chief Chad Dojack pleaded no contest to one count of dereliction-of-duty in the Sarah Jessica Parker surrogate break-in case today. The plea prompted prosecutors to drop his other charges of complicity to burglary and complicity to receiving stolen property.

Chief Dojack was accused of concocting a plan with another officer, Chief Barry Carpenter to break into Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick’s surrogate’s home last year to steal goods to sell to tabloid reporters.

Chief Carpenter was recently sentenced to two years and eight months in prison for his part in the crime. Chief Dojack will be sentenced next week, and faces up to 90 days in jail.

Ohio Police Chief Barry Carpenter was convicted yesterday of three felony counts for receiving stolen property, theft in office, and tapering with evidence in the Sarah Jessica Parker surrogate break-in case. He was acquitted for his charges of burglary and unauthorized used of property or services.

His sentencing has been scheduled for December 30, where he’ll be facing up to 10 years in prison.

Chief Carpenter’s alleged accomplice, Chief Chad Dojack, who’s facing charges of complicity to burglary and complicity to receiving stolen property, is due to face his charges in court in January.
