DJ AM (Adam Goldstein)’s estate has just settled his lawsuit against several companies for the 2008 jet crash that his estate claimed ultimately led to his death.
Even though Adam survived the accident, he became re-addicted to drugs after he was required to use prescription medication to deal with the pain from his injuries. He overdosed earlier this year.
The estate received an undisclosed settlement from Clay Lacy Aviation, Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, and Learjet.
It was reported today that Travis Barker settled his lawsuit against Clay Lacy Aviation, Goodyear Tire & Rubber, and Global Exec Aviation last month (November 18), for the 2008 plane crash that killed four people and seriously injured Travis and his friend DJ AM.
Thelma Still, the mother of Travs’ bodyguard Che Still, who died in the crash, also settled her lawsuit against the companies at the same time. The wrongful death suit brought on by DJ AM’s estate remains open.
Terms of the settlements were not released.
DJ AM (Adam Goldstein)’s estate has just filed a wrongful death suit against Goodyear Tire, Learjet, and Clay Lacy Aviation - the jet charter company that caused his 2008 plane crash.
The estate claims that the crash was what led Adam to abuse the prescription drugs that ultimately led to his death. Adam had used drugs prior to the crash, but he had been clean and sober for over ten years. The lawsuit contends that Adam began using again to deal with the emotional and physical pain that stemmed from the accident.
Adam’s estate is also suing the estates of the two pilots that died in the crash.
The NYC Medical Examiner has just ruled DJ AM’s death an accident from “acute intoxication” of a combination of cocaine, oxycodone, Vicodin, Ativan, Klonopin, Xanax, Benadryl, and Levamisole.
The examiner listed the manner of death as a substance abuse accident.
Video footage screened at DJ AM’s memorial service at the Palladium in Hollywood was released on YouTube yesterday. The vid includes promotional and personal videos and photos of the DJ, taken before his death last month. Check it out, above.
Pretty much every famous person who wasn’t at Michael Jackson’s funeral showed up at DJ AM’s memorial at the Hollywood Palladium last night.
Among the thousands of guests were AM’s ex Nicole Richie, and his friends Lindsay Lohan, Sam Ronson, Eric Dane, Rebecca Gayheart, Robert Downey Jr, Tom Arnold, Jon Favreau, Dr. Drew, and John Mayer.
The 3-hour service included a short speech from his girlfriend Hayley Wood who said, “He was my soulmate and now he is my soul. He is my amazing grace”. Others who spoke included Brent Bolthouse and Korn drummer Rob Patterson.
The service took place in the form of a 12-step recovery program.
A source close to the Goldstein family has confirmed that DJ AM will be buried at Hillside Memorial Park and Mortuary in West L.A. at 3 PM today.
Only close family members will be present at the funeral. A memorial service for the other people in Adam Goldstein’s life will be held tomorrow night at the Hollywood Palladium.
A judge named DJ AM’s mother Andrea Gross special administrator of her son’s estate in L.A. County Superior court today.
AM did not leave a will, and Andrea wanted to be legally allowed to sell her son’s L.A. home. She has reportedly already hired a real estate agent to conduct the sale, which she claims her son was planning to do anyways, before his sudden death.
Andrea was also given the legal right to negotiate settlements for the lawsuits that AM filed after his plane crash last year.
Last night, a law enforcement source involved in the investigation into DJ AM’s death, told People Magazine that Adam Goldstein had eight undigested OxyContin pills in his stomach and one in his mouth when he was found dead a few days ago. According to the source, this was an indication that the death could have been a suicide. The source said,
He wanted to die. He was going unconscious when he took the last one. He didn’t even swallow it.
Found near Adam’s body were pictures of him with his girlfriend Hayley Wood, and a Valentine’s day card from her which read, “Thank God you’re in my life. I love you”.
Investigators are still waiting on the official autopsy results.
A memorial has been scheduled for tomorrow night at the Hollywood Palladium. It will reportedly take the format of a 12-step meeting.
When DJ AM (Adam Goldstein) died a few days ago, a source blamed the fatal drug relapse on Adam’s recent break-up with his girlfriend Hayley Wood. Now, Hayley is speaking out, denying that the rumored break-up ever took place. Hayley told US Weekly,
Any indication that this horribly tragic accident happened because of a rumored breakup is not only untrue but disgusting. We were very much together at the time of his passing, and I love him very much.
The New York Post is reporting that DJ AM had plans to check himself into rehab just 24 hours before his death.
More details are now surfacing about the death of DJ AM (Adam Goldstein). Sources say that Adam had recently had a devastating break-up with his girlfriend, model Hayley Wood.
Adam had been sober for almost a decade, but sources say that his break-up last week may have led him to relapse. When the police found his body, there was a crack pipe in the room, and a bag of crack cocaine under his body. There were also prescription meds including Xanax on his kitchen counter.
The autopsy results which came back this afternoon, were reportedly inconclusive. The NYC Medical Examiner’s office is currently conducting toxicology tests to determine a cause of death. Results typically take a few weeks to complete.
Several sources are reporting that DJ AM (Adam Goldstein) was found dead in his NYC apartment earlier today.
Along with Travis Barker, Adam narrowly escaped a plane crash about a year ago. The NYPD reportedly found Adam dead in his home with drug paraphernalia nearby. He is suspected to have died from a drug overdose.
Update: Several of Adam’s friends reportedly called police today after they had not heard from him in a few days. The fire department broke into his apartment and found him dead.
We hear that Mandy Moore and DJ AM who had dated for two months way back when are now back together, all because of the plane crash. A source tells US Weekly that Mandy said,
I like this guy a lot and I want to see where it can go again. Life is too short to not be with someone you really care about.
The pair were spotted holding hands on October 18. Kids these days…
