It was previously reported that Michael Jackson’s mother and children were the only beneficiaries to his estate, but according to new documents, his siblings, Janet, Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, Marlon, and Randy may have a claim as well.
The money comes from an ongoing royalties claim. Michael’s spiritual advisor, Rev. June Juliet Gatlin is also listed as a potential creditor.
Janet was apparently the only Jackson with some loose cash floating around when Michael died, so she was luckily stuck with responsibility of fronting the money for the funeral.
According to legal docs unsealed yesterday, Forest Lawn Cemetery required the Jackson family to put up $49,372.50 for Michael’s funeral, and that whole chunk of change came right out of Janet’s pocket. Michael’s estate will be paying Janet back for the costs. They will also be covering the remainder of the funeral bill, which came to about $54,000.
Looks like Janet Jackson isn’t quite up to the task of inheriting three random kids. Sources are now saying that Michael Jackson’s other sister Rebbie is stepping up to the plate, offering to take in Prince, Paris, and Blanket.
Several sources say that Rebbie has even been staying with her mother Katherine in Encino, and caring for the kids day-to-day. Rebbie has been married to her husband for over 20 years, and has lived a very private life, compared to some of her siblings. The Jackson family members are reportedly all supporting the idea of having Rebbie take the kids in, even if Katherine is named their legal guardian.
Janet Jackson and her boyfriend Jermaine Dupri have called it quits, according to Jermaine’s friends. A source told reporters today that the reason for their split had something to do with the fact that producer Jermaine had recently begun working with Janet on her music. The source said,
You shouldn’t mix business with pleasure. Janet felt their lives were too crossed and they should have kept things separate.
Their differing personalities are also being blamed for their break-up. Janet was reportedly shy and private throughout their relationship, while Jermaine was outgoing and open. Add to that, the fact that Janet had recently picked up some very heavy baggage - taking on the mommy role to her brother Michael’s three kids.

Apparently all the Jackson siblings rallied behind the idea of giving Janet custody. Janet Jackson has canceled postponed five scheduled shows on the Japanese leg of her tour. Janet used vertigo as her excuse for her U.S. cancellations. This time, she’s gotten crafty, blaming the tour changes on poor ticket sales due to the economic crisis.
I guess in tough times, people are more careful to not spend their money on stuff that might suck.
The National Enquirer is reporting that Janet Jackson and her boyfriend of four years, producer Jermaine Dupri have broken up. Sources claim that the couple are no longer living together, and that the break-up had a lot to do with Janet’s failing music career.

Update#2: Whatever it really was couldn’t have been too serious. Janet was released from the hospital after staying for only two hours, shorter than most celebrity prison sentences.
