A bench warrant was issued for the arrest of Lil Wayne in Arizona today, after he missed a court date concerning a 2008 drug and weapons arrest.
Wayne missed today’s date of course, because he’s currently in jail in New York, but authorities in Yuma County, Arizona decided to issue the warrant anyways. Wayne pleaded not guilty to the long list of drug charges in the case, where DEA agents found marijuana, cocaine, 41 ecstasy pills, and a 40-caliber pistol on his tour bus.
After a number of delays, Lil Wayne was finally sentenced to one year in jail for a weapons charge today.
The judge agreed to place him in protective custody with special medical attention because of his dental problems.
Wayne bowed his head to fans in the courtroom after receiving his sentence, then was carted off to begin his time.
Lil Wayne, who was supposed to be in court today for sentencing on his weapons charges, has just had his date rescheduled again for Monday.
This is the third postponement for Lil Wayne’s case. The first two were pushed back due to some personal teeth issues and fire problems at the court house.
This current date was rescheduled to give workers more time to repair the courtroom after yesterday’s fire.
After two postponements, Lil Wayne will finally be sentenced later today for his weapons charge (provided that nothing else happens to delay the hearing a third time).
The first hearing was moved last month to give Wayne time to have his rotting teeth fixed, and the second one was postponed yesterday when a fire broke out in the courtroom where he was set to face the judge. Today, he’s expected to be sentenced to about one year in jail.
Today, Lil Wayne’s jail sentence for his weapons possession charge was postponed for a second time, after a fire broke out in the basement of the Manhattan courthouse where his case was set to be heard.
The fire was contained in under an hour, but the courthouse has been shut down for the day.
Lil Wayne’s first hearing was moved last month to give him time to have some extensive dental surgery done on his rotting teeth. No word yet on a new court date.
Lil Wayne, who recently had his weapons charge sentencing postponed, had eight root canals done on his $150,000 grillz on Tuesday.
According to sources, Wayne only has a few real teeth left, and those were in desperate need of repair. He’s now all good and ready to be sentenced for illegally possessing a loaded .40-caliber semiautomatic gun in 2007. Wayne is expected to be sentenced to one year in jail on a plea deal.
Lil Wayne got himself all ready to start serving his 1-year jail sentence for weapons possession last night. He even recorded a video on UStream to bid farewell to all of his fans.
When Wayne showed up for his formal sentencing today however, the judge put off his slammer time to give him the chance to have surgery done on his rotting grillz. The surgery is currently scheduled for February 12, and Wayne will be back for sentencing on March 2.

Lil Wayne was detained yesterday along with 11 other people in Falfurrias, Texas, after a U.S. Border Patrol drug sniffing dog found pot on two of the rapper’s tour buses. Some of the people on board the vehicles were issued citations, but apparently Wayne won’t be charged for the incident (at least according to his lawyer).
Wayne’s last run-in with the law happened in 2007 when a traffic cop found an illegal weapon on his bus. He’s already set to spend a year in prison for that charge.
Lil Wayne’s super sperm has produced another spawn. According to Wayne’s label mate Mack Maine, Nivea Hamilton gave birth to the rapper’s fourth kid, a baby boy named Neal Carter yesterday.
Wayne currently has three other kids with three other women. The previous one was born earlier this year. Nivea is also mom to three other kids. Her ex-husband The-Dream is the father of all of them.
Another one of Lil Wayne’s sperm receptacles has just given birth to one of his babies.
According to reports, R&B singer, Nivea spawned a new baby boy over the weekend. This comes just two months after actress Lauren London spewed out Wayne’s third kid named Lennox. He also has another son born to an unidentified woman, and a daughter born to his ex-wife Antonia Carter.
Nivea currently also has three other kids from a previous relationship. The baby daddy of those is producer, The-Dream - who’s currently married to Christina Milian.
Update: Nivea has just denied these reports, insisting that she’s still pregnant with the new Lil Wayne baby.
Lil Wayne pleaded guilty to an attempted weapon possession charge in NYC earlier this morning.
The rapper was arrested in 2007 after his tour bus was pulled over when he and his entourage smoked so much pot inside that cops were able to smell it from outside of the vehicle. When officers approached to search the bus, Wayne was spotted throwing a Louis Vuitton bag with a gun inside.
He’s facing around 1 year in prison if convicted.
Wayne is also facing felony drug possession and weapons charges stemming from a similar 2008 incident in Arizona. That trial will begin in March 2010.
Lil’ Wayne recently took some time out to make a PSA for MTV Networks’ Get Schooled campaign - which aims to help improve the American education system.
Wayne started off in the gifted program at his local elementary school, but dropped out at the age of 14. He eventually got his GED, and went on to enroll at the University of Houston as a political science major. He stopped his education at the end of 2007, but has stated that he hopes to finish his degree eventually.
Other celebs involved in the campaign include Vivica A. Fox, Solange Knowles, Sheryl Crow, and Hayden Panettiere.
Lil Wayne is well on his way to winning the baby game. Last month, we reported that the rapper had knocked up model Lauren London with a new baby boy. Now, we’re hearing that singer Nivea Hamilton is claiming to also be pregnant with his baby, and she’s even convinced him to commit to her. They’ll be getting married in the next few months.
Lil Wayne is currently also father to two other kids from two other previous relationships, bringing his grand total to 4. Two more, and he’ll be neck and neck with Akon.
Lil Wayne is reportedly getting geared up for baby #3. Sources say the rapper knocked up model/actress Lauren London recently, and that even though the two are no longer a couple, they are preparing to raise the child together.
Wayne is currently dad to 9-year-old Reginae, and 7-month-old Dwayne Michael Carter III.
