Tila Tequila and Shawne Merriman have finally settled their lawsuits against one another, according to Tila’s lawyer Cyrus Nownejad.
Tila filed the first suit back last year, accusing Shawne of assaulting her by grabbing, choking, and tossing her around (the photo above was supposedly her evidence of the incident). Shawne countered shortly after with his own suit, claiming that Tila’s accusations ruined a business deal that he had with Walmart.
Terms of the settlements were not disclosed.
San Diego Chargers’ linebacker, Shawne Merriman filed a lawsuit against Tila Tequila today, for trademark infringement and intentional interference with contract and unfair competition.
Through the lawsuit, Shawne accused Tila of ruining his career by lying to authorities and the public when she announced that he physically abused her back in September. He also claimed that Tila made up stories about how he choked her, slept with minors, made drugs in his home, and forced his minor girlfriends to take those drugs.
Tila posted the picture above on her Twitter as “evidence” of the beating, but she was supposedly heard later on saying, “yes that is why I did a ’spin’ now … cuz now everyone is LOVINGGGG me”.
Shawne’s lawsuit insisted that Tila’s accusations cost him a clothing line deal with Walmart.
He was originally arrested for the alleged incident on September 6, but all charges were dropped due to “insufficient evidence”.
Tila Tequila filed a lawsuit against NFL player Shawne Merriman yesterday, for the incident in September, where Shawne allegedly choked her and beat her up during an argument at his home.
The lawsuit included photos of Tila with bruises on her arms which she claimed were caused by Shawne.
Tila is seeking unspecified damages from Shawne for assault, battery, false imprisonment, and emotional distress.
The San Diego District Attorney has decided not to prosecute Shawne Merriman for beating up Tila Tequila last weekend after she tried to leave his house naked.
The D.A. released a statement saying,
After a thorough review of the investigation into the Sept. 6, 2009 incident at the Poway home of Shawne Merriman, our office has determined there is insufficient evidence to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that any crime was committed. The case is now closed.
Tila is reportedly not happy about the case dismissal. A statement released by her rep read,
Obviously, The San Diego Charger’s NFL franchise brings millions of dollars in revenue to the city of San Diego, and it seems clear that other interests are being served by the DA’s office than the upholding of the law. A young woman was violently beaten and choked, and the physical evidence is both overwhelming and disturbing.
Just because the DA has made this reckless decision doesn’t mean that justice will not be served in this case. No one is above the law. Tila Tequila will immediately begin pursuing civil charges against Mr. Merriman and she will have her day in court.
A couple days ago, San Diego’s 10News published some fun details about Tila Tequila’s beating, which she received from San Diego Chargers’ Shawne Merriman over the weekend. Sources close to Shawne told the station that the fight began after Tila got drunk, and refused to have a foursome with Shawne and two other girls. She threatened to have sex instead with one of Shawne’s friends, before taking off her clothes and trying to leave the house naked.
Shawne reportedly grabbed Tila to try to keep her from going outside while drunk with no clothes on. Tila then called 911, accusing Shawne of assault. Shawne was taken into custody and bailed out on Sunday.
The D.A. is still reviewing the case. If he decides to file charges, Shawne will be required to appear in court next Tuesday.
Tila Tequila called the cops at 3:45 this morning, claiming that her boyfriend, football player Shawne Merriman tried to choke her as she was leaving his house.
Shawne was arrested on battery and false imprisonment charges. His bail was set at $58,000. Tila was taken to a hospital and later released.
Shawne’s lawyer claimed earlier today that his client was only trying to keep Tila from leaving the house because she was “extremely inebriated” and he was concerned for her safety. No word yet on Tila’s current condition.
